Job Description

PermaCold Engineering designs and installs precisely engineered, highly efficient refrigeration systems for the food and process industries. We are seeking a Project Manager (Assistant to Director of Construction) who will pay attention to every detail and seek to accelerate each project, without compromising quality.  This person will have mechanical and construction experience and be knowledgeable about the projects we build, be insistent on clear communication and not leave anything to chance.

  • Establish and Monitor Project Schedules, looking ahead for possible issues and working with the team to resolve.
  • Schedule manpower, Sub-Contractors, Equipment, and Materials.
  • Work with Supply Chain to ensure on-time delivery and completeness of equipment, materials.
  • Review Engineering and Construction Drawings, Contracts, Budgets, and Timelines to ensure compliance and timely completion of each project.
  • Clearly communicate with Customers, PermaCold Team, Subcontractors and Field Personnel to sequence activities, expedite completion, resolve issues, and avoid surprises or delays.
  • Maintain constant awareness of the Status, Challenges, and Opportunities to speed up the completion of each Construction Project.
  • Manage change orders and ensure documentation is correctly input into systems.
  • Provide leadership to implement process and technology improvements to improve workflow and effectiveness.


  • Project management experience, preferably in the refrigeration, HVAC or industrial construction markets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering Management, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent time management, project management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Team Leadership skills and the ability to influence others.
  • Superior interpersonal and customer relations skills demonstrating sensitivity to customer needs and ability to work effectively with others to urgently address issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • PMP certificate preferred. 

We anticipate a salary between $85,000-$105,000, to start.  There is the opportunity for this to increase, as responsibilities increase.  Additionally, the goal is to find a person capable of moving into the Director of Construction role in the next 18-36 months.  When that occurs, this person will be eligible for the executive bonus plan as well.
