Job Description

Rogers Veterinary Service is a mobile mixed animal veterinary practice in Oregon’s Willamette Valley providing services for horses, livestock (cattle, sheep, goats and swine), dogs, and cats. We travel between Eugene, Corvallis, Philomath, Alsea, Blodgett and into the Coast Range.

Veterinarian Assistant/Communications Coordinator – Corvallis, OR

Rogers Veterinary Service is currently seeking a dedicated, proactive, and courteous person to join their team.  There are two major components to this role.

Veterinarian Assistant (75-80%, 3-4 days/week) will be assisting a veterinarian in the field.  This individual is essential to providing the professional and personal service and care that we bring to our clients and their animals.  This person must be a good driver, and comfortable around large and small animals.  They need to be willing to do what is needed to get the job done effectively and safely and enjoy working with people from all walks of life.  Anticipating the needs of the veterinarian, clients, and animals with a willingness to occasionally get dirty, when needed, are essential.

Communications Coordinator (20-25%, 1 day a week) will be managing the communications with customers; answering questions, triaging care issues, scheduling appointments and providing follow-up correspondence.  We are looking for someone who is good with people and with working knowledge of veterinary procedures.

General Requirements

  • • Initiative to learn how to best assist the veterinarian and take ownership of your role as the assistant
  • • Driver’s license with ability to safely drive a full-sized truck
  • • Willingness to work closely with all sizes of animals
  • • Adaptability, no two days are alike

Desired Skills

  • • Customer Service/Scheduling experience
  • • Previous work with livestock or in animal care

Position Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • • Answer client inquiries (phone and email)
  • • Triage the care that is required
  • • Schedule veterinary appointments and procedures
  • • Assist the veterinarian
  • • Interact positively and professionally with clients
  • • Provide animal restraint, when required
  • • Maintain safe environment for animals and personnel
  • • Record client, patient, and case note information
  • • Prepare, label, and administer medications and injections as directed
  • • Equipment cleaning, sanitation, and sterilization
  • • Drive truck between appointments
  • • Restock and clean (as necessary) the truck at the end of each day
  • • Assist with invoicing and medical records
  • • Perform laboratory tests (Fecal, UA, etc.) and prepare specimens for evaluation and lab submission

We seek an individual who enjoys working with people and animals and sees this position as a good fit for several years.  If you are willing to learn, we can teach you what you need to know to do this job well and have a rewarding role with our growing company.

This position pays $12-17/hr (depending on experience) with the potential for some overtime.  Normally appointments are scheduled 8am to 6pm Monday through Friday.   This role will be 4-5 days/week, it is possible that it could be filled by two part-time people who are able to commit to a regular, full-day schedule.
